Overview

1 in 6 Americans is food insecure. An estimated 40% of food in the US is thrown into landfills. The strategy team at FoodFinders has identified a lack of knowledge about food insecurity & waste. With that being said we created the FoodFinders app which allows users with excess food supply an easy way to donate food to those who are in need.

Context

FoodFinders is a mobile app that I developed for my UX Design certification. The project brief asked for a mobile user interface that is simple and engaging. With this in mind, I designed a clean and fun interface that invokes the feeling of happiness in users as they accomplish their goals!

Define Goals

After completing a competitive analysis of existing productivity apps to identify opportunities, I did a crazy 8's exercise to generate a wide variety of ideas. I then started my wireframes for the FoodFinders app.

Visual Design

Color Palette

I used a neutral and orange color palette. Neutral colors are known to evoke feelings of warmth, security, and earthiness. These neutral colors were primarily used as headers and body text.

I also used orange because it's associated with optimism and energy. I wanted users to feel excited about accomplishing their goal.
